Before Internet, which was for me before 2010, my stories were published in magazines. Seeing them printed on gloss paper and illustrated by well-known artists were unforgettable highlights. One of my goals is to re-publish some of those stories in an anthology as a legacy for my beloved relatives.
In the beginning of 2010, I decided to challenge the English language. With the support of my most amazing online friends I have grown from strength to strength, proving to myself that practice makes perfect. Not that I will ever be perfect, not even in my mother tongue. (Blame it on the linguistics and purists among us!) Nevertheless, I am a writer and I will write and re-write until death stops me.
In my capacity as a short story writer, I aim to pull a reader, boots and all, into someone else's shoes, hoping that they will gain insight in either the life and mindset of a kindred spirit or someone who needs to be understood.
All of my stories don't comply with the rules of Short Story writing; many of them are simply a 'word picture' of a specific event, something between an essay and a short-story.

Below is a list of links to some of the stories I have published online. Perhaps you will find a story about YOU, or me, or someone you know. (Don't panic!) I will soon publish some romance as well.

The Curse
(Paranormal) “Vera, you are wasting time!” Grandma's voice was calm, but I could sense her fear that I might not be able to fulfil my duty. Why she had chosen me on her deathbed to be the one naming the next person to die in the family would always be a mystery. ----------------------------- Committed in a Dream (Paranormal) It was Carin's father who lay stretched out on the couch, his face twisted with pain. The presbyter who lived across the street, Mr. Williams, dressed in an old-fashioned swallow-tailed coat, was pouring boiling water on her father's chest, rubbing it in with his bare hands. ----------------------------- |
Kidnapped
(Thriller) They were driving on the N1 highway. Nobody on the outside could see Mia through tinted windows inside the black car of her kidnappers. Steel-blue eyes in the rear-view mirror, of a driver with a big shaved head, sent shivers with blades through her veins. She had no doubts, she was facing death. ---------------------------------------------- Deceased-to-Be (Revenge) Christine has an unforeseen task on her agenda – the arrangement of a funeral. ‘Focus!’ is her mantra for the day. 'Focus on the here and now’. *************************** |
Money for Beauty
(Thriller) Monia was halfway down the stairs when her brother-in-law appeared at the bottom, obviously suspicious, as she was supposed to be in the guest room on the ground floor. “Sorry, Juan," she said. "But how could I not be curious? Here I came to visit my sister just to hear that she has left you for another man. I would rather believe that she was lying dead behind that locked door.” ----------------------------- |
