BackgroundSince 2010 the articles I publish in Hubpages have been read by thousands from all over the world. The series "Photo tours of South Africa" has given me the nickname, "SAA" (South Africa's Ambassador), and has led to the request that I write more about current events in South Africa. Writing about current events in South Africa? What event to be featured, what events to be mentioned, what events to be ignored? I asked myself, as any citizen of South Africa will agree with me that news in our country is like an ongoing hailstorm. Trying to follow all news, one can easily ends up with a damaged brain. |
I’ve decided to write about events that capture my interest, and by airing my personal opinions as they come to mind. I am very aware of the fact that I am only an ordinary white, middle-aged, female, perceiving reality from a specific perspective. I am also aware of the fact that the truth is merely an individual's interpretation of reality. One person's truth could be another person's falsity, and, relative to a specific norm/rule/law, the truth could be a falsity, and vice versa.
Therefor I am publishing my interpretations and opinions of current events in South Africa from behind a protecting shield that display a quote that was originally the words of Voltaire:

By the way, an owfma-sa is an ordinary white, female, middle-aged South African.
